It is currently 8 weeks until HavExpo is to retire. At the same time, the onset of coronaviruses has caused many uncertain factors, both nationally and internationally when it comes to events with larger crowds gathered indoors. HavExpo AS makes ongoing assessments of the situation, with support in national and local councils from, among others, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and the municipal superior in Øygarden municipality.
Our starting point is that the fair is held as planned, and we believe that the situation regarding the coronavirus is significantly more clarified before May, and that the situation has calmed down. The Council of The Norwegian Institute of Public Health said in march that the event with more than 500 participants shall not be held, and we also see that similar events are postponed or cancelled.
Will follow the situation closely, and make a final decision by 3 April when new and updated advice is available. Should the situation develop so that the authorities oblige us not to arrange HavExpo in May as planned, it is a difficult situation for all our customers, visitors and us as an organizer, which we deeply regret. Should this occur, we will postpone the event until a new date in September/October 2020.
We have been in dialogue with our subcontractors and bestiations on booth equipment, electricity, furniture etc. can be freely changed or cancelled when the final decision on the event date of HavExpo is made.
We apologise for the uncertainty and inconvenience caused by this, but will support the common dugnade of reducing the spread of the virus and take our share of the shared responsibility this is. At the same time, we hope and believe that they initiated measures both locally and nationally will make it possible to implement the new, large aquaculture and fisheries fair as planned.
